During the past few decades, Darwinian evolution by natural selection has lead to major consequences beyond biology and into social sciences and also philosophy. The vastness of the effects of evolution prompted us to hold a 3-day summer school with notable local intellectuals. The summer school is scheduled from 3-5 September 2018.

The reality of evolution and its mechanism is the focus of first day and the strength of this theory will be defended of. Notable biologists will lecture on several aspects of evolution. Following the lectures in the morning, a key global figure will address our school in support of evolution in the evening.
On the second day, experts in social sciences including psychology, cognitive sciences, etc. will discuss the impact of evolution on their fields. The school will be ended with an online address by a well-known expert in one of these fields.
The importance of understanding the relationship between our traditional philosophy and evolution as a fact, is another focus of this school. Islamic philosophy, with its various capabilities, can play a role in harnessing or criticizing some aspects of evolution. We are trying to test this relationship with help from scientists and to get more in touch with global critics of evolution, a well-known pioneer of each field will address our audience in the evening of the third day.

What is the relationship between evolution and Islamic philosophy? Can this theory be compatible with our philosophical system or is there an inherent contradiction? In case of compatibility, what are the required tools? Does evolution force our philosophy to revise it`s concepts? Is Islamic philosophy still dynamic and alive so it can pose challenges and rise as and equivalently strong adversary? Such questions made us focus on the matter on the third day of the summer school.
The third day is titled “Evolution and Islamic Philosophy.” We will try to present the attitudes of recent Iranian philosophers with help from local experts. The visiting professors will try to represent notable figures including Motahari, Tabatabaee, Dr. Nasr and also Javadi Amoli. A Q/A session is scheduled to follow up the lectures.
Considering the well known critics of evolution, we will host a famous intellectual to address the participants about “Intelligent Design” via video call. This is where our 3-day summer school titled “Evolution, Definition and Challenges” comes to an end.
True understanding of every theory and its underpinnings is key to proper adaptation and implementation of it. Unfortunately, evolution has been accompanied by lots of misunderstandings. We have invited expert biologists who have an established career around evolution to help us understand it correctly.
The first day of our school is dedicated to “Biological Dimensions”. Expert evolutionary biologists will try to explain some terminology and the way the theory works, so that ambiguities and misunderstandings are solved. A Q/A session is scheduled to follow up to allow even more understanding and clarification of evolution.
This day will be closed with an online address by a well known biologist who will explain more aspects of evolution.
Evolution is no longer bound by biology. It is affecting many social sciences. Focusing on consequences of this theory in fields like psychology, cognitive science and sociology can uncover some capabilities of evolution.
The subject of the second day is “Evolution and Humanities.” Notable experts are invited to lecture on the impact of evolution on various social sciences areas. We are looking to find out which field of social sciences has been able to get along with evolution and which has not. As before, attending professors will take part in a Q/A session that follows up.
Since the relationship between evolution and social sciences is a relatively new matter and requires more research, we have invited a famous global expert to address our participants on the impact of evolution on social sciences via video call.
